Zithromax Z-Pac Use Indication:
Zithromax Z-Pac comes as a capsule, tablet, and liquid to take by mouth. It
is usually taken once a day for 2-5 days. For VD, it is taken as a
single dose. To prevent Mycobacterium avium complex, it is given once
weekly. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and
ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Take Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or
take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Shake the liquid well before each use to mix the medication evenly.
The capsules and tablets should be taken with a full glass of water.
Continue to take Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin even if you feel well. Do not stop taking
Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin without talking to your doctor.

Azithromycin Medication Side Effects:
Although side effects from Zithromax Z-Pac /
Azithromycin are not
common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are
severe or do not go away:

upset stomach

diarrhea
-
vomiting
-
stomach cramps
-
mild skin rash
-
stomach pain
If you
experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
Precautions on using Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin Medication
Before taking Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin,

tell your doctor and pharmacist
if you are allergic to Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin, clarithromycin (Biaxin),
dirithromycin (Dynabac), erythromycin, or any other drugs.

tell your doctor and pharmacist
what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking,
especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such
as warfarin (Coumadin), astemizole (Hismanal), carbamazepine (Tegretol),
cisapride (Propulsid), clozapine (clozaril), cyclosporine (Neoral,
Sandimmune), digoxin (Lanoxin), disopyramide (Norpace), ergotamine,
felodipine (Plendil), lovastatin (Mevacor), phenytoin (Dilantin),
pimozide (Orap), terfenadine (Seldane), theophylline (Theo-Dur),
triazolam (Halcion), and vitamins.

tell your doctor if you have or
have ever had liver disease, irregular heart beat, yellowing of the
skin or eyes, colitis, or stomach problems.

tell your doctor if you are
pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you
become pregnant while taking Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin, call your doctor.

if you are having surgery,
including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are
taking Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin.

if you take antacids (Mylanta,
Maalox), take them 2 hours after Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin.

plan to avoid unnecessary or
prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing,
sunglasses, and sunscreen. Zithromax Z-Pac / Azithromycin may make your skin sensitive
to sunlight.
